It’s officially spooky season, and we just got back from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom! 👻

We did a quick weekend trip, arriving early to soak up as much fun as possible. We stayed at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, which I love for its laid-back tropical vibe and Skyliner access. Pro tip: If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, don’t forget about the free waterpark perk on check-in day! We hit the park right after we arrived and made the most of our first afternoon.

Our room was ready around 2 p.m., so we headed back to freshen up for the main event. After a lightning-fast costume change, we hopped on the bus to Magic Kingdom and arrived just after 5.

✨

Pro tip: The Halloween party officially starts at 7 p.m., but your party ticket lets you enter the park as early as 4 p.m. That gives you extra time to grab dinner, do a few rides, or snag those iconic castle photos before the spooky fun begins.

🎢 Our Game Plan

This was our second year attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, so instead of trying to do everything (which is basically impossible), we focused on the things that mattered most to us:

  • 📸 Photos! Ride photos, castle shots, and those fun Magic Shots that come with Memory Maker.
  • 🍬 Treat Trails! My 7-year-old was on a mission to collect all the candy.
  • 🎠 A few favorite rides.

That was it. And because we stuck to those simple priorities, we actually got them all done and more without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

💡 Here’s the Thing About MNSSHP…

I’ve been seeing sooo many comments lately from people saying they had a terrible time at the party. And honestly? Most of the time, it comes down to overplanning and unrealistic expectations.

Disney designs these events so there’s more than you can possibly do in one night and that’s on purpose. They want you to come back again and again! So if you try to do everything, you’ll end up stressed and disappointed.

The secret is doing a little bit of planning without going overboard.

If it’s your first Halloween party, I definitely recommend the parade, fireworks, and shows, they’re amazing and full of Disney Halloween magic. But just remember: everyone else wants to see those too, so rides will have longer waits right after.

If you’d rather prioritize rides, that’s totally fine too, just know you’ll be skipping some of the main entertainment. (Pro tip: add another Magic Kingdom day if you want a full ride-focused experience.)

🕰️ A Few More Ride Tips

We squeezed in Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion around 6 p.m. (before the official party start time) and only waited about 15 minutes each. Then we hopped on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during the first parade and only waited 25 minutes, even though wait times jumped to nearly an hour right after.

Timing is everything!

🧡 Final Thoughts

Bottom line:

👉 Pick your top 2–3 priorities.

👉 Treat everything else as bonus magic.

👉 Don’t stress about doing it all.

That’s how you turn a potentially chaotic night into a spooky success!
